My current project is building a large-scale (9 meter high/29 feet) painted steel sculpture for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Park. It is being fabricated at a large sculpture factory outside Beijing, beyond the sixth ring road. This sculpture, WIND DRAGON, is in the "Beijing Olympic Art Dream -- 7007 Beijing City Space Sculpture Exhibition". It is sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Government through the Beijing Sculpture Construction and Management Office. The theme of the 2008 Olympics is "One World, One Dream".

There are many large-scale projects being built here at one time. While there are just sixteen sculptors here at this time, several of them at the stone factory about an hour away, there will be approximately 30 to 50 foreign sculptors and between 50 and 100 Chinese sculptors creating works for the Olympic Park and grounds. The final number of American sculptures that will be at the olympics is yet to be finalized, but it will likely be at around eight and possibly a few more.

Along with this exciting project, I just received a first prize award from the National Guiding Committee for Public Sculpture, which is under the Ministry of Construction, for my sculpture SUBLIME PORTAL. This and other works will be presented to cities from around China for consideration as available works for commission on a large scale. I will also be in an exhibit at the Urban Visual Arts Center of China Academy of Art in Shanghai in early November, "Ideas iin Fusion: Shanghai International Contemporary Public Art Exhibition", with the Shanghai Institute of Design. There will be fifteen sculptors exhibited.
